Over 57,000 candidates forfeited deposits in past 15 LS polls

More than 57,000 candidates forfeited their deposits in the past 15 Lok Sabha polls, Election Commission of India figures show. As per guidelines by the poll panel, if a candidate fails to get a minimum of one-sixth of the total valid votes polled, the deposit goes to the treasury.

More than 57,000 candidates forfeited their deposits in the past 15 Lok Sabha polls, Election Commission of India figures show.

As per guidelines by the poll panel, if a candidate fails to get a minimum of one-sixth of the total valid votes polled, the deposit goes to the treasury.
