In a "goodwill gesture", Pakistan on Friday said it would release 71 jailed Indian fishermen, who were arrested for allegedly straying into its territorial waters.

The 71 fishermen would be handed over to Indian authorities on May 30 at the Wagah border, a Pakistan Foreign Ministry statement said, adding that they were being released as a "goodwill gesture".

The announcement came three days after India announced that it would release and send home 59 Pakistani fishermen on Saturday.
It also came ahead of the May 30-31 meeting of the Interior/Home Secretaries of the two countries here.
