The Group of Ministers (GoM) for the Delhi Games will hold its first post-Games meeting today. Along with other deliberations, it is likely to extend the terms of all officers sent on deputation to the Organising Committee, so that they are available while the probe into the OC's conduct of the Games is on.
Ministry sources said the GoM would look into aspects like work allocated to different government agencies, such as the Delhi Development Authority, and where they failed.
“The Games have been staged really successfully but all complaints or alleged irregularities regarding transactions by any agencies must be thoroughly looked into,” Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy said.
Meanwhile, the Central Vigilance Commission stepped up its probe and asked all the agencies involved in constructing and setting up facilities to hand over reports by Oct 31.
Adding to the increasingly isolated Kalmadi's troubles Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit said "suspicion" of corruption in the Commonwealth Games was on the OC, to which Kalmadi hit back at Shiela Dikshit, saying her aspersions on corruption in the Organising Committee (OC) were "most disappointing and uncalled for" and that she must indulge in self-reflection on corruption in her own departments.
