In a latest development in the Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad on Tuesday directed the CBI to hand over around 203 photographs and the original fingerprints from the scene of crime to Nupur and Rajesh Talwar.
The court, however, rejected the couple’s application, requesting it to confront a prosecution witness on his CrPC 161 statements given in July, 2008 and March, 2010.
The prosecution witness is from the Uttar Pradesh police and had lifted fingerprints as well as taken photographs of the crime scene after the double murder of Talwars’ daughter Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj came to light.
The court directed the CBI to produce the original fingerprints for effective cross-examination of Chunni Lal Gautam and also directed the agency to hand over the required photographs.
CBI special public prosecutor RK Saini said the photographs had been handed over to the Talwars.
Rejecting the Talwars’ major demand to confront the witness, sessions judge S Lal dismissed their application, stating that the cross-examination of the witness was already under way and the application was moved to waste the court’s precious time.
“The application is liable to meet its Waterloo,” the court order stated.

{{/usCountry}}Previously, the Talwars had said that when compared to his previous CrPC 161 statements recorded in July, 2008 and March, 2010, Gautam had added some points on June 8.
The CBI court has fixed the next date of hearing for June 29 in which Gautam’s cross-examination will continue.
