The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday evening served notice on an ex-Bihar cop to explain his links with the alleged Patna blast conspirators Tehsheen Akhtar and Haider Ali.
“A notice has been issued to the former police officer,” said an Indian Police Service (IPS) rank officer of Jharkhand Police requesting anonymity.
The deputy superintendent of police (DSP) came under the NIA’s scanner after Md Imtiaz Ansari, the main suspect of Patna blast mentioned his name during confession and how he met Akhtar at the DSP’s home.
Akhtar had indoctrinated Imtiaz into the Ranchi module of the banned group IM. Ansari was arrested after the first blast at Patna railway station just a few minutes before BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi’s hunkar rally at Gandhi Maidan on October 27.
“In the notice, NIA has asked the DSP to explain how he came in contact with the duo and the purpose of their regular visits to his residence,” added the IPS officer. Police officers of Jharkhand are reluctant to go on record in matters related to patna blast as the incident is being probed by NIA.
The former-DSP resides in Doranda, the same colony from where Uzair Ahmad, an electrical engineer who was arrested by the NIA earlier in connection with the Delhi bomb blast of 2012 and funding the Patna and Bodh Gaya bomb blasts.
