After more than a month of uncertainty, the BJP-PDP is likely to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir immediately after the Delhi elections are over.
A very highly placed source told Hindustan Times, the two parties have almost agreed on the important points of the common minimum programme (CMP) which is likely to be cleared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a few days.
According to sources, the two parties have talked more about development in the CMP keeping the contentious issues like Article 370 and revocation of ASFPA on the back burner.
"The chief ministership was the only issue we were discussing, now we have agreed to a PDP CM for six years, so the government would be in place in a week," said a source in the BJP.
Although not confirming the development, PDP chief spokesman Nayeem Akhtar said that "the process of government formation is on."
"There is no structured dialogue but the two parties are trying to create an atmosphere of understanding on track two basis,'' Akhtar said.
Akhtar, however, said that the CMP will "prove the cynics and prophets of doom wrong." The two parties have earlier decided to support each other in the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled on February 7.
In the assembly elections which were held in December, the PDP had emerged as the single largest party bagging 28 seats after the voters threw up a hung assembly. The BJP won 25 seats, followed by the National Conference (15) and the Congress (12). The PDP has not so far considered the offers of support from the Congress and the National Conference but has been holding parleys with BJP.

BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday in an interview with a national news channel had said that the coalition government would be in place in Jammu and Kashmir by February 10.
"Although we are very close to forming a government with our alliance partner PDP in J&K and we will still wait when it is done completely, but in politics nothing is final until it is really final," Madhav had said.
