Two plays were staged here on Saturday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
Students of various schools and several artistes participated in the plays, which were staged at Epicentre in the evening. The first play ‘Dragon of the winds’ was a
Japanese folk tale, while the other ‘Ek Khayali Bimar’ was a Hindi play.
Talking about the initiative, Gouri Nilakantan, artistic director of the play, said, “We wanted to do something on India-Japan relationship. We prepared a script on the Japanese folk tale and sent the synopsis to the Japanese embassy nearly two months ago. And they liked the idea and appreciated the initiative.”
Though the play was translated in English, Japanese music and costumes were inseparable part of the show. The play was produced by Platform for Action in Creative Theatre. Gouri said, “It is important to know what kind of culture our friendly nations have. And staging this show on the completion of 60 years of India-Japan diplomatic relations is an effort in the direction. The message "We should have friendly relations with ally countries" was conveyed through the two plays.
In ‘Dragon of the winds’, children in the age group of 5-15 years tried to convey the message, whereas in other play the job was done by adults.

{{/usCountry}}Ishaani Ranjan, the story teller of the first play, said, “The world is not confined to India. I have visited different parts of the world. And it is always beneficial to know the culture and tradition of other countries.”
