Madhya Pradesh Police on Friday claimed to have solved the seven year old mystery behind the murder of Prassna Mishra, a relative of former Union Minister, Vidhya Charan Shukla, by arresting Mishra's wife and two others.
"On July 16, 2003, Mishra, who was posted as Land Acquisition Officer with Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) disappeared following which his wife Rekha Mishra filed a missing persons report with the local police," Khandwa Superintendent of Police (SP), Harinarayan Mishra told reporters.
Despite hectic search, police were unable to trace his whereabouts.
However, acting on a tip off police quizzed his wife, who reportedly had remarried and changed her name to Shabnam, her husband Sayyed Sahab Ali and his brother Karamat Ali following which they admitted to killing Prassna Mishra and also revealed the place where they buried his body.
The police recovered the remains of Mishra's body that was buried about 30 km away on Harsud road near Rajur Khedi village.
The Police have arrested all the three and further probing the case, the SP added.
