The list shows a reduction of 9,123 voters, compared to the voters list in the 2001 assembly elections here.

The total number of male voters in the union territory as per the present list was 3,14,759 compared to 3,29,739 in 2001.

This shows a reduction of 1,4,980 voters. The strength of women voters has increased by 5,857. The number of female voters is 3,34,765, compared to 3,28,908 in 2001.

The number of female voters is higher than the male voters in all the 29 constituencies, except Modaliarpeth this time while it was so only in 13 constituencies in the 2001 elections.

The sources said the reluctance of the male voters to cross check their names and photographs in the draft rolls published was the cause for the decrease in the number of voters.

With this provision, it is likely that the number of voters would increase, the sources added.
