Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones on Sunday said current captain of his country Ricky Ponting was surely one of the all time greats of the game but did not get due appreciation for his achievements.
"People always talk about Sachin Tendulkar and Viv Richards, but Ricky is also one of the great cricketers of all time," Jones said after Ponting led Australia to set a record target of 434 against South Africa in their fifth and final one-day international cricket match in Jogannesburg.
"Ricky does not boast of his achievements but he is indeed among the greatest cricketers of all time," he said.
"This knock of 434 is greatest in the ODIs and might not be conquered ever. The way Australia is murdering their opponents, makes them invincible," he said on the sidelines of the second Test between India and England.
