Portfolios distributed among new Arunachal ministers

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin today distributed portfolios among the 11 newly-inducted cabinet ministers who were sworn in during the day, official sources said.

Immediately after the swearing-in, Gamlin air-dashed to New Delhi to get approval of the list from the party High Command, the sources said.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister distributed portfolios among the 11 newly-inducted ministers, a fax received at the Chief Minister's office here said.

While former RWD minister Kalikho Pul has been assigned Finance, Planning and Tax & Excise portfolios, APCC President Nabam Tuki retained the same portfolios of PWD and Urban Development with additional charge of Legal Meteorology.

PHED minister Chowna Mein retained the same portfolio, former Home Minister Tako Dabi got the portfolios of Industry and Fisheries. Takar Marde, who held the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj departments in Khandu’s government also retained the same portfolios with additional charge of Home.

Former Finance minister Setong Sena was allocated the portfolios of Power (Electrical), Environment and Forest besides Parliamentary Affairs, while Atum Welly got the charge of Health and Rural Works Department.

Education minister Bosiram Siram retained the same department with additional charge of Libraries, while newly inducted Pema Khandu was allocated the important portfolios of Tourism and Water Resources Development department, the sources said.

Jarbom Gamlin will hold charge of other departments not assigned to any ministers, the fax said.

Gamlin was sworn in as the sixth chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh on May 5, six days after the tragic death of Dorjee Khandu in a helicopter crash at Keyla near Luguthang in Tawang district on April 30 along with four others on board.
