External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday welcomed Priyanka Gandhi's comments that she was not averse to joining politics.

"I welcome it," Mukherjee told reporters in Baharampur after filing his nomination for the Jangipur Lok Sabha constituency.

Replying to questions from reporters in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, where she is campaigning for her brother Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka said on Sunday, "As I am growing older I have realised 'never' is a bad thing to say... I am not going to say 'never'... but I don't think that is what I want to do."
