“ALL PROMISES which I had made for the development of city will be fulfilled.” This was stated by the Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal while speaking at a seminar on ‘Progress of City’s Development’ organised by the Youth Congress.
For the dismal civic scenario of the city, Jaiswal categorically blamed previous public representatives.
“I will leave nothing to chance in ensuring overall development of the city. Promises which I had made during the election will be fulfilled,” Jaiswal said.
Those who pass comments on civic condition of the city must first acquaint themselves with the ground realities, Jaiswal remarked.
On the efforts being made by the PM Manmohan Singh, Jaiswal said, “PM and UPA government will ensure overall development of the country by the end of five year tenure that even Opposition will be compelled to applaud the effort.”
Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of the State Youth Congress Shailendra Dixit pointed out all the developments carried out by Jaiswal till date. The projects undertaken by Jaiswal included a four-lane highway from Ramadevi to Mandhana, flyover at five places in the city and bypass from Mandhana to Unnao.
Dixit said the most remarkable achievement of Jaiswal was the launching of Shramshakti Express from Kanpur to New Delhi and Udyognagri Express from Kanpur to Mumbai. The credit for a development package of Rs 4.5 crore for Bithoor and Rs 3 crore assistance to JK Cancer Institute also goes to Jaiswal.
Dixit also stated that the credit for inclusion of Kanpur city into the Millennium City project also goes to Jaiswal.
Jaiswal also presented mementos to 40 members of Mahila Congress and Youth Congress and NSUI. Coordinator of the seminar Shailendra Dixit presented a map of the city to Jaiswal.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Congress MLA Sanjeev Dariabadi and others.
