Members of Mosque Management Committee, Cemetery Committee, Temple Management Committee, Taxi Drivers’ Association and other organisations blamed the district administration for giving permission to run liquor shops near education institutions and religious places which they said was highly condemnable and no one would tolerate it.

Expressing his views on this occasion, Wasi Ahmad, Ajay Singh and others said the liquor shops in residential areas were adversely affecting the atmosphere of the localities as after consuming liquor, peoples create ruckus.

They said various organisations would organise a public meeting near Aastana of Mubarak Khan Shaheed on April 20 to step up their agitation.

It may be noted that the excise department has issued licenses to countrymade liquor shops in congested residential localities at Andhiayari Bagh, Nasirabad crossing, Ismailpur and at Laldiggi. They said due to these shops, the residents of these areas were facing hardships.
