Now, consumers living in the old municipal committee areas will not have to go to the public health department office to deposit their water bills.
The municipal committee, which has now become the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), is all set to take over the water supply system from the department. With this, the consumers can make the payments online.
It is learnt that the corporation is planning to outsource the water supply responsibility to a private agency.
“We will hire a private agency for the purpose. We have already floated the tender and hope the process is complete by the month-end,” said Sudhir Rajpal, commissioner, MCG.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon will take a few more weeks to bring the water supply system under its control.
“In a joint meeting, it was decided that the corporation will take over the responsibility of water supply system by October 1,” said Davinder Singh Bajwa, superintending engineer public health department, Gurgaon.
The corporation, which is battling from staff crunch, was supposed to bring the system under its control by September-end. “The new deadline is October 1. We hope the MCG makes all arrangements by that time,” he added.
