Two masked men fired at a prominent builder's office in Bangalore on Saturday night. The material left they left behind indicate the men work for underworld don Ravi Pujari.
The police intercepted two men, believed to be the shooters, 15 km away from the builder’s office in the wee hours of Sunday. One of the riders was killed and a police inspector was injured in ensuing the firing.
Police is yet to confirm the hand of Ravi Pujari gang behind the incident.
The duo barged into the office of Mantri Developers on the Vittal Mallya road here and opened fire at the guards after inquiring about the owner.
The duo fired six shots in the air, at window panes and signboards of the builder’s office, before fleeing on a motorcycle. No one was hurt in the firing.
They left behind a visiting card in an envelope before fleeing the spot. “A cheetah’s image and two letters — RP — were printed on the card. The number printed on the card is a Dubai telephone number," said a police officer.
Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar S. Bidari said a case of attempted murder was registered against the men. Police have traced the motorcycle, believed to have been used by the men nearly three hours after shooting incident. Police intercepted the riders, killing one Chandru alias Chandrashekhar alias Drum (26) on the spot.
The accomplice also sustained a bullet injury, but managed to escape.
