City roads are ridden with potholes soon after repairs but this is not the case with the Gurgaon Expressway.

I have to accept that quality of roads is not appropriate. Whosoever is responsible, but it is a fact that quality standards are not maintained. Water is an enemy of roads and the problem is further exaggerated in the city. On the highways, the slope if so steep that waterlogging is not possible.

Is the contractor responsible only for repairs and carpeting the road or is he accountable for its life span too?

The department does take action against contractors. In the case of highways, a contract is awarded for 20-25 years but this is not the case with city roads. The quality is not up to the mark so we are planning to revamp the entire structure.

What does Huda mean by ‘revamp of the structure’?

Has anybody been penalised for poor road repairs?

If the contractor does not meet the deadline, they are blacklisted and we stop giving them work.
