The couple, married in August 2006, had moved the court seeking annulment of their marriage Dec 12 last year.

Harish Malhotra, the lawyer representing both the parties, said the judge asked Shweta as well as Rahul whether they had decided to seek divorce mutually, both replied in the affirmative.

When asked whether there was any pressure behind their decision to seek divorce, the couple said there was none.

Shweta, who is a pilot with a private airlines, lives in an up-market condominium in Gurgaon.

"There are no hard feelings against each other as the decision to part ways was mutual. We would continue to be good friends. I would continue to be a professional pilot with Jet Airways for the time to come. I have thought nothing about any marriage plans," Shweta told reporters after the court hearing.

The couple had wed months after Pramod Mahajan, a former union minister, was shot dead by his own brother in his Mumbai home. Later Rahul hit the headlines when he was hospitalised after an alleged incident of drug abuse. Pramod's secretary Bibeik Moitra died of drug overdose in the incident.
