One night of rain and a day full of delays. Late running trains, diverted bus routes and waterlogging at chronic spots — the city’s rush hour life was disrupted on Wednesday morning following incessant rain since Tuesday night.
While Colaba recorded 73.7 mm rain, Santacruz received 32.2 mm.
Kandivli (West) residents Nathuram Bhole (27) and Preetam Bhole (8) were electrocuted at Juna Link Road. Twenty-two-year-old Shambhu Jha was injured after receiving an electric shock.
Rail and bus services were affected due to waterlogging at several places in the city.
Saat Rasta, Nair Hospital, Wadala, Parel, Agripada police station, Hindmata, Dadar workshop, Tardeo, Navjeevan Society and Worli Naka were waterlogged, said civic officials.
Three trains each were cancelled on Central and Harbour lines during peak hours.
The Western Railway (WR) cancelled 35 trains during non-peak hours.
“We had to cancel three trains each on Central and Harbour line during peak hours after it started bunching,” said S. Gupta, Chief Public Relations Officer (PRO), WR.
Trains were delayed by 45 minutes on Central Railway. On WR and Harbour line, trains were running late by 30 and 25 minutes respectively.

{{/usCountry}}“Services were mainly affected due to accumulation of water on the tracks,” said Srinivas Mudgerikar, Chief PRO, Central Railway.
The water on the tracks was pumped out, said an official, requesting anonymity.
“Waterlogging was reported from low lying areas. But the situation improved in most areas later in the day,” said Vilas Vaidya, chief, disaster management cell.
On Wednesday, no deaths due to rain-related ailments were reported but 252 new patients were treated at various city hospitals. Of the 252 cases, 146 were of fever and 57 of gastroenteritis.
