THE 1974 batch IAS officer, Vinay Shukla, who was evicted from circuit house recently, is camping at Gwalior railway station for over 24 hours. The district administration does not seem to have an idea about how to deal with the capricious behaviour of the senior officer. Shukla was posted here as member, Revenue Board.
After the State’s division, Shukla was allotted Chhattisgarh cadre, but he refused to go. Since then he had been living alone in the circuit house till his eviction last week for reported non-payment of dues that ran into lakhs of Rupees.
On Wednesday night, Collector Rakesh Shrivastava arranged for Shukla’s journey to Raipur.
Some Revenue Board officials went with him by Chhattisgarh Express. However, Shukla got down from the train at Vidisha station and returned Gwalior in the wee hours of Friday.
After spending some hours at the station, he reportedly went to the circuit house. Sources said when he was not allowed to enter the circuit house, he tried to contact district officers but in vain. By Friday afternoon, he was spotted at the Gwalior railway station in crumpled clothes, unkempt beard and dishevelled hair and his appearance attracted the attention of media persons.

{{/usCountry}}He also refused to accompany his nephew Vinay Pandey, who came to take his uncle to Raipur. All through Friday night, Shukla changed seats in the waiting lounge of the retiring room. Once, he warned the media persons of locking himself in the toilet of the retiring room to avoid their questions. Senior officers are learnt to have asked three Revenue Board officers to keep a watch on Shukla.
The Collector said he contacted Shukla’s elder brother, a Supreme Court lawyer. He is coming to Gwalior on Sunday, the Collector said.
