The INTUC also demanded to raise retirement age for the employees of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). “The retirement age of employees should be increased to 62 with a view to mitigate the dangers of skill depletion.

It needs to be kept in the mind that the retirement age of 58 years (now 60) was decided in 1960 when the average age of Indian was 37 years; today it is well past 70 years,” the memorandum said.

INTUC president, R D Tripathi has demanded to utilise the spare land available with the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited , Bhopal, for setting up additional industries with the objective of increasing employment on the lines of Hardwar.

He also demanded a medical and a engineering college be set up in Bhopal, handing over of the BHEL quarters to employees on lease, announcement of some generous gift to BHEL employees and merger of DA with basic pay.

The time cycle for pay revision should be maintained same for all category of employees,” the Union demanded.
