It filed a petition in Rajasthan High Court's main Bench in Jodhpur challenging the February 17 verdict of Chief Judicial Magistrate BK Jain sentencing Salman to a year in jail for killing the species of gazelle in September 1998 at Bhavad village in the district.
The court had also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the 40-year-old Salman while acquitting actor-comedian Satish Shah and others—Kuldeep Singh, Mohd Hussain, Yashpal Singh, Mahendra Pal Singh alias Rajubana, Dushyant Singh and MS Bhati.
