Rs 5,615 cr indirect tax revenue collected

THE BHOPAL zone of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax has collected a total Indirect Tax Revenue of Rs 5,615 crore during 2005-06, 10 per cent higher than the comparative collections of the previous year.

THE BHOPAL zone of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax has collected a total Indirect Tax Revenue of Rs 5,615 crore during 2005-06, 10 per cent higher than the comparative collections of the previous year.

In a release, Chief Commissioner for Customs and Central Excise PN Vittal Das said the central excise collection of the zone has been Rs 5,050 crore, representing a growth of over 18 per cent in the non-petroleum sector.

The outgo on account of rebate amounts to Rs 185 crore. The central excise revenue realised in the previous year was Rs 4,617 crore. The service tax collection has exceeded the target of Rs 415 crore by a whopping Rs18 crore, registering a phenomenal growth of 65 per cent.

The customs revenue target of the zone fixed by the Central Board of Excise and Customs has also been exceeded. The central revenue registered during 2005-06 is valued at Rs 133 crore, 50 per cent higher than the comparative collections of last year.

The jurisdiction of Bhopal zone, which extends to Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, comprises three Commissionerates located in Bhopal, Indore and Raipur.
