The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for 15 minutes on Friday after TDP leaders demanded the prosecution of Andhra Pradesh CM Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy under the Andhra Land Ceiling Act, 1971.
Reddy had surrendered more than 300 acres of surplus land on Wednesday. Ravulu Chandra Sekhara Reddy (TDP) and his party colleagues wanted to raise the issue of Reddy's surrendering the land during the Zero Hour in the morning session. AIADMK and SP members joined the TDP MPs in the protest.
Deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha K Rahman Khan, however, said the permission to admit the issue in the Zero Hour could not be given as it was a state subject.
The protesting MPs, however, persisted with their demand and went into the well raising slogans forcing the Chair to briefly adjourn the House for 15 minutes.
The House reassembled at 12.45 pm but the MPs continued their protest, claiming Reddy should be prosecuted for violating law.

{{/usCountry}}Earlier, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj demanded that the I-T notice to Adobe CEO Naresh Gupta - whose son Anant was kidnapped a month ago and released after a ransom of Rs 50 lakh was paid - be withdrawn.
Gupta has been served a notice by the Income Tax department to explain the source of the money he had paid for the release of his son.
Swaraj said that the action revealed a "height of insensitivity" on part of the authorities and asked the government to withdraw the notice immediately. She added that any parent whose ward was kidnapped would go beyond his means to secure the release.
