RIGHT TO Information (RTI) Act proved to be a boon for a family running from pillar to post to get an FIR lodged in a case pertaining to a youth who has been mysteriously missing for over a year. The youth, Ghanshyam Mishra, of Qaiserbagh is missing since October 10, 2005 and his brother Amarjit has been running to Ghazipur police station and the senior officials to get an FIR lodged against the prime suspects.

As the cops did not attend to his complaint Amarjit sent an application to the Information Commission in October seeking information about the development in the case of his missing brother.

The commission sought the information from the Lucknow police and in a bid to cover up their fault the Ghazipur police registered a case of kidnapping late on Tuesday night.

The FIR stated that Mishra was employed with Global Enterprises at Sahara Shopping Centre, Indira Nagar. Mishra had a dispute over money with Ajay Sharma of the firm. Amarjit alleged that Sharma had made several attempts to eliminate Mishra but the latter had escaped the attack.

Amarjit further stated that once Sharma and his aides had abducted Mishra and detained him for about 24 hours in his office where Mishra was brutally assaulted. The family members had intervened and had rescued the youth.

Amarjit alleged that Ajay Sharma and Sardar Satpal Singh of Universal Traders had kidnapped Mishra with the intention of killing him.

The police had yet to initiate a probe into the case.
