The facility, which is the first of its kind outside Russia, would aim at providing a one-stop solution and provide all maintenance intermediate requirement, overhaul of helicopters and any special service, said Air Commodore S B Prasher (Retd), CEO of the Integrated Helicopter Services Private Limited, the joint venture between Vectra and Russian Helicopters.

"The basic objective was to provide total spare management. It will be a 24-hour facility and is expected to start operating by March 2010," he said during the ongoing Aero India 2009 show in Banglore.

It will begin by servicing the MI series, including the MI 172 aircrafts in the civil sector and would subsequently look into any MRO requirements of the defence sector if demanded, he said.
