Pratibha Samariya, who lived in Panchkula in 2007, had bought a prepaid mobile connection from Reliance for her husband Deepak, a textile engineer.
“According to the scheme offered to me, the local call charges were supposed to have come down from 90 paise to 10 paise if I recharged the number with a special tariff voucher coupon. But, from the call details, I later discovered that the call charges were being deducted at the same rate (90 paise), despite recharging with the special scheme I opted for,” she said.
Samariya said she, along with her husband, went to the Reliance customer care centres several times, but only got assurances.
The call charges, however, continued to remain the same at 90 paise, she said.
"Pratibha persuaded me to move the consumer forum, though I had no expectations from it.
I thought the process would take years. Finally, the forum delivered the verdict in our favour in January 2008 and directed the company to compensate us with Rs. 12,000,” he said.
A few days ago, Pratibha finally got a cheque of Rs 12,000 from the company.
