Voters from several villages in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region boycotted Lok Sabha polls to highlight problems being faced in their areas.
Voters from two villages in neighbouring Washim district boycotted polling to protest against lack of proper roads and other basic facilities.
None of the voters from Manka and Wardari Khurd villages, part of the Akola Lok Sabha constituency in Vidarbha region, took part in the balloting yesterday, villagers polling officials said today.
Similar poll boycotts were also reported from some other villages.
None of the 833 voters in Taroda village, falling in Buldhana Lok Sabha constituency, turned up at the polling booth to protest severe water crisis, polling officials said.
According to sources, voters from four villages in Hingoli district, two in Washim and one each in Yavatmal and Buldhana boycotted polls to highlight their problems.
