The sex ratio at birth (0-6 year) has improved by 19 points as compared to last year even as the child sex ratio was registered 864 in the state during August 2013 in Haryana, health minister Rao Narender Singh said here on Monday.
Presiding over the meeting of state advisory board under the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act, the health minister said that there was a noticeable improvement in sex ratio at birth in almost all districts with the efforts being made by the state government.
He said that district Mewat had sex ratio 913 which was highest in the state whereas 12 districts had sex ratio between 850 and 900 and seven districts have between 800 and 850.
Expressing concern over district Mahendergarh where sex ratio is 770, Rao Narender Singh said that "these figures might indicate the beginning of the reversal of the trend, but one had to do a lot to improve the skewed ratio in Haryana".
