Gujarat Minister Amith Shah, who did not appear before CBI for questioning in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, was contemplating approaching the High Court for anticipatory bail after the same was rejected by a lower court, his lawyer said on Friday.
Shah, who has been accused for murder, extortion and criminal conspiracy, on Friday moved the CBI court for anticipatory bail after he was summoned by the central agency in connection with the case.
CBI Judge GK Upadhaya rejected Shah's application on technical grounds, as his application did not mention sections of Indian Penal Code under which he was made an accussed.
Shah's lawyer Mitesh Amin said they were deliberating on legal options and contemplating approaching the higher court after the rejection of anticipatory bail plea.
"We need to first have a look at the chargesheet and the charges against the minister before taking any further decision," Amin said.
Shah had earlier requested for more time to appear before the investigating agency.
Amin had requested for a questionnaire from the CBI, which rejected the same, saying it was not required.
