Shaikh Mushtakh Shah Thangal's body laid to rest

The body of Shaikh Mushtakh Shah Valiya Thangal, the tenth descendant of the renowned Kondotty Thangal royal family, was laid to rest at the Kondotty Thakhaiyvu mosque graveyard on Saturday.

The body of Shaikh Mushtakh Shah Valiya Thangal, the tenth descendant of the renowned Kondotty Thangal royal family, was laid to rest at the Kondotty Thakhaiyvu mosque graveyard on Saturday.

Mushtakh Shah Valiya Thangal alias Mohammed Hussein Thangal (78), who died last evening following cardiac arrest, remained head of the royal lineage for nearly half a century.

Valiya Thangal ascended the seat at the age of 30 with the demise of his father Shaikh Mohammed Shah alias Swalih Valiya Thangal.

The family is believed to have migrated from Maharashtra in 1700 AD and ruled Kondotty princely state till the British established their supremacy in the area.
