In a letter sent to the state government recently, the Union Rural Development Ministry has intimated the Rural Management and Development Department (RMDD) about the nomination of Congress leaders K N Lepcha, K N Upreti, Youva Raj Rai, Topden Lepcha, Anil Lachenpa and Acharya Tshering Lama on the state-level vigilance and monitoring committee.

The state government has been further directed to convene a quarterly meeting of the Vigilance and Monitoring Committee to review various rural development projects and other activities and send a report to the Centre on a regular basis.

All the empanelled Congress leaders have been Chamling baiters over the years with Lepcha being the main crusader behind the litigation filed in the Supreme Court alleging serious corruption charges against the chief minister which incidentally was quashed by the apex court recently.
