In another case of police apathy towards women victims, the Ghaziabad and Greater Noida police refused to entertain or act on a woman's complaint of harassment for dowry.
The woman moved the court of Gautam Budh Nagar chief judicial magistrate who on Thursday issued summons to her husband and others.
Advocate Dinesh Singh Bhatti told Hindustan Times, "The victim, Raj Kumari alias Rajna, filed a complaint at Loni police station in Ghazaibad but no action was taken. The Dankaur police in Greater Noida also refused to lodge an FIR and sent her to Loni. Her in-laws live at Dankaur and her parents live at Loni."
"After poor police response she moved court to lodge an FIR and also sought maintenance and a house to live in and education expenses for two children," said Bhatti.
"Raj Kumari was married to Udey Singh, a resident of Uncha in Dankaur on June 19, 2007. At the time of marriage, her father Veer Singh gave Rs. 50,000 and one motorcycle among others to her in-laws," he said.
Thereafter she gave birth to two children - Nitin and Sakshi.

{{/usCountry}}"Later her in-laws demanded one plot and a car. On non-fulfilment of their demands they physically and mentally tortured her. On December 26, 2010 she was beaten up and her father lodged a complaint at Loni police station," he said.
Later a panchayat was held at the village and her in-laws took her back home.
"In January 2012 she was again beaten up and thrown out of house. Since then she had been living with her parents. Today judicial magistrate sent summons to her husband and in-laws," the lawyer said.
