In an informal chat with mediapersons on the occasion of his birthday, Kalyan Singh, who was instrumental in installation of the Mulayam government in the State, said that Sonia Gandhi was now a mature politician and it was not possible that she would stoop down to the level of tapping phones and that too of leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh.

Refusing to comment on the ‘appointment’ of Rajnath Singh to the coveted post of the BJP national president, Kalyan Singh admitted that sacked BJP leader Uma Bharti’s ‘Ram Roti Yatra’ was drawing huge crowds but did not respond to the question of Uma being taken back to the BJP once again.

Replying to a question on the proposed second phase of the Nyaya Yatra which was initiated by Rajnath Singh in protest against brutal murder of BJP legislator Krishnand Rai and six others and demand for a CBI probe, Kalyan Singh said no decision on the second phase of the yatra had been taken at any level in the party.
