South African Prez to participate in NAM meet

South African President Thabo Mbeki, accompanied by Foreign Affairs minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will lead his country's delegation to the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Cuba.
The delegation will travel to Cuba after attending the summit of the heads of state of India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) alliance in Brazil on Wednesday.
"President Mbeki and his delegation will participate in this summit within the context of South Africa's commitment to promote South-South co-operation through the Non-Aligned Movement", the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday.
"As a former Chair, it will nevertheless be expected of South Africa to remain an active member and also an ongoing advocate of the African agenda," it said.
Foreign Affairs minister Dlamini Zuma is expected to participate in meetings, to be held on the sidelines of the meet, on Palestine and ongoing developments in the Middle East.
