A 20-year-old woman was critically injured after a neighbour, 22, who was stated to be in love with her, stabbed her thrice in her abdomen at her residence on late Monday afternoon at Ashok Vatika area of Sahibabad.
Police officials said that the woman, who previously worked as an executive with a private company in Noida, was alone at her residence when her neighbour, Kapil Kumar, entered her house and landed at least three blows with a sharp-edged knife in her abdominal area.
“The man absconded after the incident, while she bled profusely. After hearing her cries, neighbours and family members arrived at the scene and rushed her to GTB hospital in Delhi,” JK Shahi, superintendent of police (SP), said, adding that her condition was critical.
He revealed that Kumar wanted to marry the woman but she did not pay any heed to his offer.
