The development of Jammu and Kashmir and prosperity of its people are very important to us and infrastructure is crucial for such development, Singh said in a message on the occasion of the inauguration of the two projects in Srinagar.

"These two projects will go a long way in integrating the state with the country and the world, thus facilitating its economic progress," he said.

Reading out the message, Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's office Prithvi Raj Chavan said, "this is bound to catalyse economic growth of the Kashmir valley with the availability of cheaper and more reliable transport".

The Prime Minister said he was happy to know that the Airports Authority of India has completed the new integrated terminal building at the Srinagar airport and Air India will now launch international flights from srinagar.

The two projects were inaugurated here today by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
