All necessary steps have been taken to contain circulation of 'fake currency notes' in the district, East Godavari District Collector M Ravichandra said in Rajahmundry on Tuesday.
Ravichandra, on Tuesday, held a meeting here with bank officials and police in this regard. "With the assistance of banks and police officials a tight vigil has been kept on the circulation of fake currecency notes and steps are on to contain it in the district," he said.
He appealed the bankers and police to take all initiative to contain circulation of fake currency notes. If stringent action against the persons involved in the crime is not taken, innocent and common man would suffer and it leads to bad results, he added.
He directed police to register cases against those who indulge in fake currency note making and circulation. He also urged bankers to monitor currency notes. At the meeting, he discussed the steps to contain the fake currency notes and actions to be taken against persons involved in the crime.
