Talking to mediapersons here at Sankat Mochan temple, where one of the two bomb blasts occurred on Tuesday last, Bharti said that the Union Government should garner support of the international community and weed out the roots of terrorism in Pakistan, PoK and Bangladesh.

She said that the Central Government should make efforts for international pressure on Pakistan to get terrorist camps destroyed. “In case Pakistan fails to destroy these camps, then the government should rope in the International Army for the purpose,” she said, adding that if these camps were not destroyed, the Indian Government should itself try to get rid of these terrorists camps on its own, as this was the only solution to curb growing terrorism.

Bharti lambasted the Uttar Pradesh Government for its failure on the law and order front and said that the State Government was unable to check crime. It was lenient to fundamentalist forces and therefore UP was a ‘soft target’ for the terrorists. She also alleged that the State Government was shielding a person who was directly involved in the Mau riots.

The firebrand leader also raised questions over the credibility of the proposed ‘yatras’ of former Union Home Minister and Leader of Opposition in Parliament Lal Krishna Advani.

“Will the people believe these yatras?” asked Bharti and said that she criticised these yatras ideologically.

She said that it was Advani who failed to initiate proper action against infiltration when he was Union Home Minister.

After the attack on Parliament, Atal Behari Vajpayee had announced a final war, but what did the government do later? she wanted to know.

She said that Muslim fundamentalists should learn a lesson from the people of Varanasi who gave an outstanding example of tolerance even after such a massive blast at a religious place.

She criticised those who vociferously protested against the cartoon issue and said these people should learn a lesson from Hindus. Bharti also criticised the government for scrapping POTA and demanded that the government re-introduce POTA to combat terrorist activities across the country.

She lauded former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi for her courageous stand against terrorism. “When Bangaleshi nationals started fleeing to India in the early ‘70s, it was Indira Gandhi who attacked Pakistan to counter the crisis”, she said.

Bharti recited Hanuman Chalisa at the Sankat Mochan temple and met Dr Vishwambhar Nath Mishra, son of Mahant Prof. Veer Bhadra Mishra.

Earlier, Bharti paid obeisance at the ancient Kashi Vishwanath temple in Dashashwamedh area and boarded a boat to Assi Ghat. She also visited the victims of the twin blast in SS Hospital.
