The body of the victim, identified only as Abdullah, was found on the ground floor of the Darul-uloom-Habiburza seminary in Alawal town, some 150 km from here.

"Abdullah's body bears multiple injuries that have been afflicted by a sharp-edged weapon," police inspector Akhilanand Upadhyay told reporters in Gonda.

"Abdullah was living in a hostel on the second floor of the seminary. When some hostel inmates came to the ground floor to attend their classes, they found his body lying in a corner of the ground floor," he said.

"We are questioning madrassa officials to solve the case," Upadhyay added.
