The special investigation team (SIT) of South Delhi Police carried out lie detector test on six people, including three key witnesses, in the death case of former union minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar.
On Monday, Delhi police commissioner BS Bassi confirmed they recently conducted polygraph test on three key witnesses - Tharoor’s domestic help Narayan Singh, his driver Bajrangi and his family friend Sanjay Dewan. SK Sharma, Vikas Ahlawat and Sunil Takru were also questioned in connection with the case. The commissioner said they are waiting for the test results.
“Our investigation is continuing. If there is any need, we will conduct further tests,” Bassi told mediapersons.
A senior police officer said the test was conducted on the six of them, with their consent, after the court allowed the Delhi Police to do so. Police sources said the test, which included over 100 questions such as those relating to injuries on Pushkar’s body, Tharoor’s relationship with Sunanda and his alleged closeness with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, was carried out on the six people in the presence of their lawyers.
Earlier, the SIT had questioned the six of them and told the court they suspected them of hiding several facts pertaining to the case.
