Girls outshined boys in the overall performance of the Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) held this year for the Mumbai division of Maharashtra State Scondary Board with a total of 78.19 pass percentage.
The pass percentage of girls was 83.01 while for boys it was 73.97, according to results released by the Board in Mumbai on Thursday.
Out of the total of 2,38,321 students appeared for the HSC examination, 1,86,351 students passed.
Harshad Prakash Chavan from Swami Vivekanand Junior College stood first in Mumbai division with 96.67 per cent and he also stood first among the vocational course students.
Among girls, Lekha Muraleedharan of D G Ruparel College stood first in the Mumbai division scoring 96.17 per cent, according to the Board which announced the results today simultaneously at all its eight divisions.
Among the backward class students, Dadasaheb Baban Patil stood first with 94.67 per cent from Swami Vivekananda Junior College, Chembur.
In the Science stream, Ankita Ujjwal Shah, again from Swami Vivekananda Junior College stood first with 95 per cent while in the Arts stream Devika Rajiv Gharge of Ramnarain Ruia College, Matunga stood first with 90.33 per cent.
