May be you are waiting for Prince Charming to come riding on a white steed with the tiny black box from which he would draw the diamond of your dreams and slip it on your gloved finger.

But then there's a short cut to happiness. Buy your own diamond!

In fact sport your own rock and set a standard for Mr PC when it's his turn to buy you one.

So what if Liz Taylor has always taken pride in sporting the sparklers gifted by her husbands - we will take the cue from Sushmita Sen, the woman who likes to wear her own diamonds and is proud of it!

So much for celebs, but I was actually moved by the idea when a friend recently bought a 'beautiful' (no other adjective comes close) ring that cost her a fortune and has been sporting it with élan (drop your jaw here).

So where was I?

Yes. So when she showed the ring to me - I did a good job at hiding the sharp pang in my heart and said "That's some attitude girl but why did you not wait for you boyfriend to buy you one?"

"Well, I liked it and so I bought it. Who will wait for anyone to buy me a ring? Besides I think it is a good investment!" quick came the reply.
