With most of the security and intelligence agencies of the country pitching in with the investigation of the blast outside the BJP office in Bangaluru, the probe is moving apace.

By the end of Wednesday, the officials established that the motorbike on which the improvised explosive device was suspected to have been planted, a Suzuki Max 100, had been stolen from Hyderabad.

Though the vehicle had been completely destroyed, the officials found its number plate — TN22R3769 — which indicted it was registered in Tamil Nadu.

But this proved a false trail. The registration number was found to be fake. The chassis number indicated the vehicle was from Hyderabad.

An officer of the Internal Security Division said the bike must have been stolen from that city.

“It shows the involvement of a Hyderabad-based terror module in the case. We are collecting information from Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

The police are also inspecting CCTV footage from cameras installed in the BJP office and a residential complex outside it. They are expected to yield some clues about the man who planted the bike. Besides, the officials are questioning the lone eyewitness who has seen a man park the bike at the spot.

Forensic teams have scanned the area. The material used in the bomb is expected to throw light on the terror outfit involved in the blast.

Police commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar said, “The investigation is on and we have not come to any conclusion on this regard. It is not right to reveal information at this stage.”

Currently, the Bangalore police are conducting the probe along with the officials of the National Investigation Agency. Help is also being extended by officials of the Intelligence Bureau, military intelligence, state intelligence and the internal security division.
