Kulfi is one of the most popular and preffered traditional dessert in India. Made from thickened flavoured milk, it is available in flavours such as kesar pista, badam pista and new variants such as mango, strawberry, chocolate and more. Earlier, kulfi was sold in earthenware pots by street vendors called kulfiwalas on a stick or in a terracotta cup. But, with time, a number of specialised parlours have opened up in the city, which offer a wide variety of the chilled delight. We list down for you a few places in the city where you can enjoy a kulfi.

Bengali Sweet House
Though this place is popular for its chaats and sweets, their kulfi, available for Rs 45 per plate is also quite a hit with the customers. The 76-year-old shop is one of the best places to enjoy a kulfi. Available in two flavours, kesar pista and kesar badam, the kulfi is one of the most popular items on the menu of Bengali Sweet House during the summer.

Nathu Sweets and Pastry Shop
When here, you’ll spot a crowded counter right outside the entrance. This is Nathu’s kulfi counter that offers a lot of variety. Try their traditional flavours, such as, kesar pista kulfi, matka kulfi and kulfi falooda (Rs 60 each) or opt for the stick kulfi (Rs 35). They also have flavours like phalsa, fruit cream and mango (Rs 70 each). They offer sugar-free kesar pista kulfi (Rs 70) as well. Where: Sunder Nagar Market; Timings: 9am to 11pm
Krishna Di Kulfi
This is one of the oldest shops serving kulfis in the city. They have offered traditional flavours, such as kulfi faluda, matka kulfi, kesar pista kulfi (Rs 70 each) from decades. But around three years back, they introduced 40 new flavours, including eight sugar free ones, in their stick kulfi range. Try flavours like paan, coconut, khas, coffee, lichi, and kiwi (Rs 50 each).

Krishna Di Kulfi

Sweet Corner
Started by Hemant Gupta 57 years ago, this sweet shop is quite popular for its summer delicacies. Visit this shop on a summer evening and try the kesar pista kulfi, kulfi falooda (Rs 50 each) or their stick kulfi (Rs 29), as these flavours are the most popular to tingle your taste buds and are an excellent option to beat the heat.

Roshan Di Kulfi
This 50-year-old shop has been attracting crowds from all over the city for its delicious summer delicacy. The shop is always brimming with people irrespective of the time or weather. The most popular flavours at the shop include kesar pista kulfi topped with plain faluda or kesar faluda and sugar syrup (Rs 70). They have also introduced mango (seasonal) and sugar-free kulfi (Rs 70 each).

New Standard Kulfi
This is a small blink-and-miss shop, which is situated on a corner near Golcha Cinema in Daryaganj. This small eatery serves some of the best kulfi and rabri in the city. Try their pista kulfi, as well as the rabri kulfi and rabri faluda (Rs 50 each), all of which they prepare using fresh ingredients everyday.

King’s Kulfi
Spread around Delhi in various malls, this franchise offers classic Indian flavoured kulfis. Try natural fruit flavoured kulfis like mango, strawberry and black current (Rs 40 each). You can also try a mix between kulfi and ice cream with flavours like choco bar, black forest, butterscotch and tutti fruity (Rs 40).

Charan Singh Natural Fruit Kulfi
Situated in South Extension Part II, this kulfi vendor operates from a van that sells 32 different types of kulfis. Their speciality is the mango kulfi (Rs 100). The mango seed is taken out with precision, replaced by the kulfi and sealed with a terracotta lid. You can also try flavours such as imlee, lichi, aam panna, among others. Mehta’s
This eatery, located at a corner near Golcha Cinema, in Daryaganj, has a loyal set of consumers. The restaurant serves a variety of dishes, but its kulfi is the most popular. Available in two flavours, mango (R55) and pista badam (R50), they serve it topped with faluda, sugar syrup and dry fruits. You’ll have to brave a queue, as the place is usually packed.

Standard Ice cream & Faluda
Drawing a packed house every day, especially during the summer, this place is a hot favourite among youngsters. Started by Ram Kapoor and Pratap Kapoor 20 years back, this shop is famous for its kulfi faluda (Rs 35) and the stick kulfi (Rs 25). You can also try their ice cream faluda (Rs 35), as well as the low-sugar kulfi faluda (Rs 35), which is ideal for the health conscious.
