Friends call them an example of the ‘opposites attract’ theory. While Tavleen, sister of Imperial Hotel owner Gobind Singh Akoi, is a bubbly and outgoing person, industrialist Aman Gill is subdued and quieter of the two. And when they tied the knot last weekend at a lavish do, the two families celebrated.

The celebrations began with the sangeet function which was held at Tilak Marg. The place was done up with orchids and roses with the colour scheme being pink, white and gold . The bride wore a red and gold lehnga, passed on to her from her great-grand mother. “Wearing an ancestral outfit is a typical Punjabi tradition and I wanted my wedding to be traditional in every aspect,” announced the bride. The groom’s mother Indu Gill told us about their jago tradition where the womenfolk stay awake at home while the baraat goes to the bride’s family.

Making the evening memorable was the live performance by Punjabi singer Harbhajan Maan, who had everyone dancing to both his pop and traditional numbers along with DJs Nimit and Puneet who kept the guests jiving till the wee hours.
