Three polling officials among 10 injured in Anantnag violence

Ten people, including 3 polling officials, were injured as militants carried out over a dozen attacks in Anantnag LS constituency.

Ten people, including three polling officials, were injured as militants carried out over a dozen attacks on polling booths, security personnel and residences of political leaders since last night in this Lok Sabha constituency where elections are being held today in the fourth phase.

Militants fired a rifle grenade at a polling station at Sarnal last night injuring five security personnel and three polling officials.

Two persons, including a security personnel, were injured as militants attacked polling stations at Bijbehara and Shopian in Pulwama district, official sources said.

Militants tried to disrupt polling by firing rifle grenades on polling stations at Hugam and Badasgam villages in Anantnag and Taknoo in Pulwama.

Stray firing incidents were also reported at Malwan and Soth polling stations where no casualties were reported, the sources said.
