Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said the process of handing over Huda sectors and private builders' colonies to the Municipal Corporatin of Gurgaon (MCG) for carrying out development works will take some time.
"I have no idea at what stage the issue is exactly. What I can say at the most is that it may take some time," said the chief minister, refusing to give any time frame.
"There are government procedures, which have to be followed, and it will happen, let time come," he said, adding that the councillors should focus on their works within their jurisdictions.
As per old municipal committee norms, sectors developed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and private developers were exempted from the corporation's jurisdiction.
The MCG has sent a proposal to the government last month and sought the transfer of all these areas in to the jurisdictions of the respective ward councillors, saying now all the 35 wards of MCG have an elected representative in the house of the civic body.
The residents living in these colonies which constitute around 65% of the city are also writing to the MCG commissioner as well as the chief minister for transferring of the areas so that councillors can focus on maintenance and development activities.

"I can not carry any development plan like roads or water supply in my ward as my role is limited to village boundary, not beyond that," said Rama Rani Rathee, councillor of ward no 34.
According to senior deputy mayor Yashpal Batra, the delay in transfer of jurisdiction is hampering development works in several areas.
"This is sad that the government is not taking it seriously as it is hampering development work. Councillors are still left with very limited role in New Gurgaon and in Huda sectors," he said.
