Transport network repair to cost Rs 250 crore, 1 year

It will take Uttarakhand a year and more than Rs 250 crore to reconstruct 1,214 roads and 194 bridges damaged or washed away in Kumaon and Garhwal regions by the rain-induced disaster.

State PWD officials said 403 roads have been restored temporarily though 22 major roads are in precarious condition.

“Normalising road communication will cost us R250crore and a year’s time. Apart from bridges, we have lost 80 suspension and pedestrian bridges,” PWD chief engineer, Lalit Mohan said.
