Two orphaned sisters were burnt to death by a young man in Orissa's Sambalpur district, a local newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Yogeswar Majhi, a resident of Tureinktimal village in Sambalpur district, 450 km from here, on Tuesday night poured petrol on 17-year-old Snehalata Dhan and 13-year-old Sanjulata Dhan when they were on their way back home.

While Sanjulata died on the spot, Snehalata died on her way to hospital.
Oriya daily the Samaj reported that Yogeswar loved Snehalata but was hurt after she became engaged to another man.
